Work Life Balance Is There Such a Thing?

So let's see what Google's definition is for work-life balance: “Work-life balance is a term commonly used to describe the balance that a working individual needs between time allocated for work and other aspects of life." “Allocated work” so that can be any work, as Mothers and as women, in general, we tend to say that if we are not actively working in an office we don’t need to have a work-life balance, guess what? You need it the most, why? Because we always work even if it is from home earning or not, we always are constantly working especially when you have kids, so you need to be more organized to have and find the balance.

Would you find the balance? Well, that’s is very subjective and difficult to measure. However the way you can find the “balance”, for me at least is when you are in peace with yourself and love what you do. You don’t have to have the perfect balance or day to have that feeling. However, you need to be organized to find it and have focus.

Here are some tips I wanted to give you to be able to find that balance and get the most out of your day/week/month in terms of quality time. I hope it will work for you as it does for me!!

1. Let go of Perfectionism and find your Imperfection

A lot of overachievers develop perfectionist tendencies at a young age when demands on their time are limited to school, hobbies and maybe an after-school job. It’s easier to maintain that perfectionist habit as a kid, but as you grow up, life gets more complicated. As you climb the ladder at work and as your family grows. As life gets more expanded it’s very hard, both neurologically and psychologically, to keep that habit of perfection going. The healthier option is to strive not for perfection, but reassuring your own imperfect balance.

2. Disconnect to Reconnect

You need to be able to find time to unplug from people and social media and even your phone. Choose a day of the week to disconnect in order to reconnect to your family and closed ones.

3. Find time to Meditate and Exercise

Meditation is a great excercise. Especially when you combine it with other activities that are good for your well being like listening to a podcast or reading a book. Anytime you invest in these kinds of activities you are allowing yourself to grow and ultimately accomplish anything you want in life.

4. Change your Routine

It is good to have routines and goals, but it is also good to switch it up from time to time. The reason being that sometimes repatitive routines can cause stress. Being able to change and adapt to change will make you a happier person and will also make your life more interesting.

5. Invest in Life Experiences

It is good to be home but it is also good to invest in getting away with friends and family, or even by yourself. This will give you the opportunity to learn about yourself and/ or your close ones in a different environment. It’s very important and we tend to forget to invest in experiences and is one of the most important things in life and you are able to create memories and relationships that will last a lifetime.

6. Start Small. One Step at a Time

We have all been there and when we commit all at once and we can’t do anything. It ends up being too much too soon. So any diet or any new year resolution, It’s the same with work-life balance when we take on too much too quickly it ends up not working. So we need to build slowly have patience try our success one step at a time.

Good luck and tell me how it goes!
